EGOR VS. BUFFET

ROSCOE ROSCOE ROSCOE ROSCOE ROSCOE
Now comes this foul verbigeration to our email; beating in its mindless rhythm within our brain, against what creativity the hungry years have left.
So be it.
Aeschylus had his womens’ chorus, critic to his Agamemnon; Sophocles his old men mocking Oedipus’ dogmatic slumbers. Why should we expect better?
It is character which sustains at such times; the demonstrated ability to know oneself, and to turn that self courageously to wise actions. These qualities harden us to the task at hand.
We will illustrate, by comparing the character, Igor, from the Lion Story in our childrens' book, with Warren Buffet, the Sage of Omaha, who was the recent subject of an adulatory television special.
Igor entered into this world with but little. He is deformed; he stammers; his eyes don’t track. But Igor knows what he has, and better, he knows what to do with it to serve his community. He roams the empty hallways at night of the Wimpole Street School, cleaning, searching for children who might have been left behind – not to eat them – but to save them.
Warren, on the other hand, came into this world with many gifts, and he has used them, and he speaks aphorisms about them which are widely quoted;
“Roll financial snowballs down a long hill and you will have a big snowball.”
“When there is blood in the streets get out your checkbook.”
“If you have a losing year you will be irreparably damaged.”
But wait. These Buffet aphorisms are aimed at one thing only; making money.
What is the “R” correlation between character and making money?
R=Zero
Igor, has the better character.
